The Cobb Summer Singers is a proud ensemble of the William Baker Choral Foundation, Inc, which was first started in Atlanta in 1990 and now sponsors ten musical ensembles based in three states. Each year these ensembles involve over 500 men, women, and youth in the celebration of great music.
The Summer Singers is a concept that has been so successful that it has been imitated across the nation. The Choral Foundation sponsors Summer Singers ensembles in Kansas City, Atlanta, Smyrna, GA, Lee’s Summit, MO and Cartersville, GA.
The Summer Singers will join with distinguished soloists and the Orchestra of the American Heartland to perform one of the greatest choral works in music history, Brahms’ A GERMAN REQUIEM, using the English adaptation by Robert Shaw. There will be one performance on Sunday, August 10th. Rehearsals begin Tuesday, June 10th.
NO AUDITION is required for membership in the Cobb Summer Singers, but music reading ability is a must. Choral experience is highly recommended. All adults and mature youth are invited to participate. (Youth under 16 may participate only if a parent or guardian is also a registered member of the Summer Singers.)
