Welcome to the Choral Foundation!

On behalf of our Board of Trustees, our Music Staff and the over 500 men, women and children who participate in our choral ensembles, I thank you for your interest in music of timeless beauty and worth and for taking the time to visit with us.  It is my hope that we at the Choral Foundation will have the privilege of serving you for many years to come.

The Choral Foundation has grown dramatically in recent months.  We now sponsor four Festival Singers choruses in the greater Atlanta and Kansas City metro areas, including the new Cobb Festival Singers based in Marietta, Georgia under the direction of Lynn Swanson Fowler. Our Summer Singers of Atlanta, created in 1990, was joined by the Summer Singers of Kansas City in 1999, and now the Cobb Summer Singers.

Our Northside Young Singers choirs for children began rehearsals and performances last September and grew to two ensembles this past January.  We are looking to the creation of our newest Kansas City ensemble this coming season for senior high youth who wish to explore and perform masterworks for chorus and orchestra.  The new chorus, under the direction of Christine Freeman, will be called the Kansas City Youth Chamber Singers.

The Columbus Chamber Singers under the direction of Courtney Supple will be a new choral ensemble for senior high youth that will be based in the Midland area of greater Columbus Georgia. Auditions are on going and rehearsals will begin in September 2009.

I hope you will take a close look at the Choral Foundation’s first Summer Music Camp, scheduled for July 20-24 in Marietta, Georgia.  The camp will provide graded singing choirs and handbell ensembles for children and youth from rising second graders to rising high school seniors.  Private instruction will also be available in singing, piano, conducting and musicianship.

In addition to our numerous performing ensembles, the Choral Foundation serves America’s choral community through Amber Waves Music Publishing, a creative company that supports emerging composers, arrangers and authors.  Our Student Intern program provides hands-on practical experience in conducting and choral leadership.  Students who have participated in our internship program now serve as music leaders from Georgia to California.

Our organization has come a long way since February 26, 1985, when the first rehearsal was held of a group we called the Gwinnett Festival Singers.  In those years thousands of singers have given hundreds of concerts and offered dozens of recordings and broadcasts.  It has been and remains our vision to enrich lives and change destinies with every note of music that we offer.

It is my hope that the music of the Choral Foundation will be a blessing to you.  As new dreams come true for our musical family each and every day, it will be our purpose to grow in our service to our communities and to music lovers just like you.

Please enjoy your visit.

Soli Deo Gloria,
