POSITION AVAILABLE MUSIC DIRECTOR & CONDUCTOR

The William Baker Choral Foundation announces an employment opening for the position of Music Director & Conductor of the ensemble known since 1998 as the William Baker Festival Singers of Atlanta. It was created in 1985 as the Gwinnett Festival Singers.  Applications will be accepted through September 15, 2014, with the goal of an appointment by January 1, 2015.  The position will begin June 1, 2015, for the 31st concert season of the ensemble in 2015-2016.  Compensation will include base salary and performance incentives.

Responsibilities will include all phases of building and leading a major semi-professional choral ensemble.  The successful candidate will possess appropriate education in choral leadership, and will have demonstrated proven success with professional, community, church and/or school choral programs.

Summer Singers of KC – August 18th at 2 pm

The Summer Singers of Kansas City and members of the Kansas City Symphony will have a concert on Sunday, August 18th at 2 pm.  Dr. William O. Baker will be conducting Beethoven’s Mass in C Major, Opus 86, Symphony No. 7 in A Major, Opus 92, and Choral Fantasy, Opus 80.  The performance will be held at Grace and Holy Trinity Cathedral, located at Broadway and 13th Street in downtown Kansas City, MO.  Tickets are $20 for adults, $15 for students and seniors over 65, and children under 12 are free.

Cobb Summer Singers August 11 at 6pm

The Cobb Summer Singers and the Orchestra of the American Heartland will have a concert on Sunday, August 11th at 6:00 pm.  Lynn Swanson, Music Director and Conductor, and the musicians invite you to hear the glorious works of Georg Frideric Handel featuring Dettingen Te Deum, Water Music Suite, Zadok the Priest and Messiah ChorusesThe performance will be held at St. Benedict’s Episcopal Church, located on 2160 Cooper Lake Road in Smyrna, GA.  Tickets are $20 for adults, $15 for students and seniors, and as always children under 12 are free.

Summer Singers of Atlanta Concert August 4th

The Summer Singers of Atlanta with the Orchestra of the American Heartland will have a concert this Sunday, August 4th at 3:00 pm.  Selections include HAYDN Missa In Angustiis (Lord Nelson Mass) Te Deum in C SYMPNOHY NO. 59 (Fire Symphony) Arietha Lockhart, soprano; Magedelena Wor, alto Bradley Howard, tenor; Stephen Ozcomert, bass., and Dr. William Baker, Music Director & Conductor.

The concert will be held at Grace United Methodist Church, located at 458 Ponce de Leon Avenue in Midtown Atlanta.   TICKETS are $20 for Adults,  $15 for Students and Seniors, and as always children under 12 are free.

Summer Singers of KC Starts Tuesday

TUESDAY IS THE DAY! The first rehearsal of the Summer Singers of Kansas City is Tuesday night at Grace & Holy Trinity Cathedral.  When you arrive please proceed to the Information Table to pick-up a music folder.  There will be a separate table for singers who need to complete registration.Unregistered members may do so online at any time, or may simply show up to rehearsal Tuesday and register between 6:30 and 7:00.  We will make room for everyone.  If you have questions between now and Tuesday, feel free to drop an email to Mail@FestivalSingers.org or call our Kansas City Office at 913-403-9223.

The 15th Season of the Summer Singers of Kansas City in 2013 will have chosen two glorious works of Ludwig van Beethoven, the MASS IN C and the CHORAL FANTASY. The orchestra will complete the concert with a performance of Beethoven’s immortal SYMPHONY NO. 7. Rehearsals start on Tuesday, June 4th, 2013, and the concert will be on Sunday, August 18 starting at 2pm at Grace and Holy Trinity Cathedral, Broadway at 13th Street in downtown Kansas City, Missouri.
