George Chesnut

George Chesnut, Associate Director and Accompanist for Northwest Georgia Summer Singers, is a native of Cherokee County, Alabama, and has made his home in Cartersville since 1995. He holds the Bachelor of Music Degree from Shorter College and the Master of Music Degree from the Manhattan School of Music. Since 2000, George has served as the organist/choirmaster for the Episcopal Church of Ascension in Cartersville, and formerly served as the
organist for Sam Jones Memorial United Methodist Church. George has performed extensively as a piano recitalist and organ recitalist throughout Georgia and Alabama, and has been a piano concerto soloist with the symphony
orchestras of Rome, GA, Savannah, GA, and Birmingham, AL. George has studied piano with Elizabeth Buday, Bela Nagy, Solomon Mikowsky, Louisa Stojowska, and Lisa Kovalik. He has studied organ with Peter Dewitt at Shorter, and
currently studies organ with Robert Delcamp, Professor of Music and University Organist at the University of the South, Sewanee, Tennessee.
