Michael S. McGarry, Ph.D
Dr. Michael S. McGarry has been a psychologist in independent practice for over twenty years. He earned degrees from Florida State University, Emory University, and Georgia State University. Dr. McGarry provides individual, couples, and family therapy. Areas of specialization include management of anxiety and depression, addiction treatment, hypnosis, and psychological evaluation. Dr. McGarry is certified by the American Psychological Association, the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis, and the American Group Psychotherapy Association, and is a member of the active allied staff at Ridgeview Institute in Smyrna, Georgia. Dr. McGarry currently sings with the William Baker Festival Singers in Atlanta. Previous ensemble memberships were with multiple barbershop quartets and several choruses competing at the international level of the Barbershop Harmony Society, the Florida State University Singers, church choir and staff singer/soloist positions with Grace United Methodist in Atlanta and First Presbyterian and Pass-a-Grille Community Churches in St. Petersburg, Florida, and with the St. Petersburg Boychoir. Highlights include singing the Beethoven 9th directed by Robert Shaw with the Atlanta Symphony while studying voice with Shaw Chorale members Clayton Krehbiel and Yvonne Ciannella at FSU, participating in a joint concert with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and international-level barbershop singers, and singing at the United Nations and on the nationally syndicated Mike Douglas Show with the St. Petersburg Boychoir as well as attending a summer choral conducting institute at Westminster Choir College.
