THE SECOND ANNUAL MARIETTA FESTIVAL OF MUSIC will be performed on Sunday evening, April 18, 2010, at 6:00pm in the nave of the St. Catherine’s Episcopal Church, 571 Holt Road in Marietta, Georgia. The 90-minute concert will feature performances by three choirs, The Cobb Festival Singers and The Northside Young Singers under the leadership of Music Director Lynn Swanson, and The William Baker Festival Singers under the direction of Dr. William O. Baker. The program will include classical works by Handel, Purcell and Hassler, modern selections by Taverner and Nystedt, and a diversity of American spirituals, folk hymns and gospel songs. Registration opens March 1st for the Cobb Summer Singers. Join us for our 5th Summer of Singing. The featured work will be Mozart’s Solemn Vespers, along with a variety of classics and spirituals. The ensemble is lead by Lynn Swanson, Music Director & Conductor. Rehearsals are Tuesday evenings in the sanctuary of Maple Avenue United Methodist Church on the northwest side of the Marietta Square. The William Baker Choral Foundation proudly presents a Inaugural MasterWorks Concert by the Cobb Festival Singers and Chamber Orchestra. Lynn Swanson is the Music Director and Conductor and Sue Goddard (AAGO) is organist. Also appearing are soloists: Melissa Ann Shallberg (Soprano), Ann Vines (Mezzo Soprano), Marilyn Altman (Contralto), Travis A. Smith (Tenor) and William Baker (Bass). Featured works include Antonio Vivaldi’s Beatus Vir, Franz Josef Hayden’s Te Deum, and Franz Schubert’s Mass in G. This one performance will be held on Saturday, March 6th at 8:00 pm at St. James Episcopal Church on 161 Church Street in Marietta.
