The William Baker Choral Foundation is a national organization that sponsors performing ensembles based in three states, in addition to conferences and consulting services nationwide. Nearly five hundred men, women and children participate in the ten ensembles that are heard by thousands of music lovers across the nation through our concerts, tours and recordings.
Our flagship ensemble, The William Baker Festival Singers, was begun in Atlanta in 1985, and expanded to Kansas City in 1998. The Festival Singers tradition has continued to grow through the creation of the Lynn Swanson Festival Singers (formerly the Cobb Festival Singers) that began rehearsals in 2009 under the direction of Lynn Swanson.
The Northside Young Singers, based in Acworth, Georgia, has grown to three ensembles, The Concert Choir for children in grades 4-8, the Training Choir for children in grades 2-3, and the Youth Chorale (for children ages 13-18) . The Kansas City Youth Chamber Singers for youth in grades 9-12, under the direction of Christine M. Freeman, began rehearsals in September 2009 in the Kansas City area of Johnson County, Kansas.
The Summer Singers of Atlanta, The Summer Singers of Kansas City, and The Cobb Summer Singers are active from June to August in rehearsals and concerts of great masterworks for chorus and orchestra. Auditions are not required for participation in these exciting choruses.
The publishing division of the Choral Foundation is Amber Waves Music Publishing, a company that offers over 50 outstanding titles from upcoming composers and arrangers. Amber Waves Sound Recordings produces CD and DVD titles that bring delight to music lovers everywhere.
